春が来た？Spring had come(?)

In the middle of Feb in 2024 was so warm and I was sure that the spring will arrive earlier than usual.

Then I heard from someone that the nature has a way to correct itself. When it has particularly warm winter, the summer is not nearly as hot. When the summer is hot, winter will be colder than usual. When everyone is concerned with global warming, is there a such thing?

I was sure we will see cherry blossoms by mid March.

Guess what? At the end of March, it was hardly bloomed and I couldn’t even see a single flower bud!

As my expectation was proven to be completely wrong, I started to long for the small flower paddles in the wind, and that contrast with the blue sky and the cherry blossoms that represents the spring in Japan.

Maybe that’s why all of sudden I wanted to draw something I never usually draw – flowers and dessert.

Here is the process of the drawing.

2024年の2月中旬はとても暖かく、例年よりも春が早く訪れると思ってました。

その後、どこかで自然には自己修正能力があって暖冬の場合、夏はそれほど暑くなく、夏が猛暑だった年は、冬は通常より寒くなると聞いたのですが、異常気象が続く最近の様子を見るとそんなことがあるのかな？と疑問でした。

だから今年は絶対3月中旬には桜が咲くだろうと確信して他のですが、、、

なんと？3月末近くになっても桜はほとんど咲いておらず、一輪のつぼみさえ見ることができない状態！

私の期待を完全に裏切られたと同時に、風に揺れる小さな花びらと、春の象徴でもある青空の下の桜の木々が見たくてたまらなくなってきてました。

そんな理由もあってか突然普段ならあまり描かないお花とデザートを紙に描いてみました。

四角いいちごショートケーキに隠れるネズミとなんとなくどっちも狙ってるニャンコの姿です。

今回は主にプリズマカラー使って色を塗っています。
